Want to throw a Firefly and Serenity theme night, but don’t know where to start? Not to worry. Get ready to kick back a couple of jugs of mudder’s milk with your closest Browncoats in no time. Here’s your roadmap for a shiny shindig!

If you’re here, I’m going to assume you’ve watched the Firefly and Serenity multiple times. Here are some quick links to watch, so you can put the show on during your festivities.

Firefly (2002)
(Stream on Amazon)
The one and only season of Firefly, an amazing fourteen episode run.

Serenity (2005)
(Stream on Amazon)
Serenity is the grand culmination of an epic adventure that ended way too soon.

A taste of something that never came to fruition. If only…

This should come as no surprise – the recommended drink for your Firefly and Serenity theme night is Mudder’s Milk from Canton.

There are a couple of different recipes for Mudder’s Milk. I chose the three best ones in the verse – let’s check them out!

“All the protein, vitamins and carbs of your grandma’s best turkey dinner, plus 15 percent alcohol.”

The Geeky Chef’s version of Mudder’s Milk
Grab two to three shots of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey, 0.5 cup milk, 0.5 cup plain Greek yogurt, one banana, two tablespoons peanut butter, 0.25 cup oatmeal honey, a smidge of cinnamon. Visit the Geeky Chef for the full recipe.

Alison’s Wonderland Recipes version of Mudder’s Milk
You’ll need: 3 scoops vanilla ice cream, 1/4 cup pulverized oats, 1 tbsp flax seed meal, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 35 grams vanilla protein powder (for the brand I used, this is the amount of 1 scoop), enough Baileys to reach milkshake consistency. Mmmm! Visit Alison’s Wonderland Recipes for instructions.

Strawberries and ice planets! Bao and protein noodles! There’s no lack of great food options you can serve at your Firefly themed dinner party.

Official Browncoat Cookbook from Cooking for Morons
Here’s the recipes you can find there:
Mudder’s Milk
Lucky Shepherd Cookies
Mystery Meal
Li Shen’s Protein Noodle Laksa
Wash’s Tossed Salad
Serenity Stew
Jayne’s Sweet Prosperity Pie

Ice planet

“My food is problematic.” -River Tam

Here’s a great ice planet recipe if you want to make your own ice cream. Includes yummy truffle center and white chocolate outer shells. Time consuming method, but worth it!

And here’s a quick and dirty ice planet recipe for when you just can’t wait to attempt to eat your ice planet.

There’s also some fun party ideas from Tikkido, including a cute idea for incorporating Kaylee’s parasol as a drink umbrella and Wash’s dinosaurs as cookies and straw decorations.

Did you know that the Alliance officer and soldier uniforms are leftovers from Starship Troopers?

The Legendary Encounters deck building games are solid, fun games to play. Legendary Encounters: A Firefly Deck Building Game is no exception. It’s hard to win, follows the episodes and movie in an entertaining way, and is good fun with a group. I’d recommend 3+ players. Trying to win with two players is very difficult due to the reliance on the ‘coordinate’ cards in the deck. Make sure to look past the less-than-stellar artwork. Invite your whole crew to help you take on the ‘Verse!

Of course you can’t get this gorram party started without your Jayne hat!

Enjoy your Firefly and Serenity theme party!
